Since 1974, this Australian rock band
have released 14 albums worldwide and have built their reputation on
exhilarating and fanatical live performances, gaining themselves a devoted fan base. And after
releasing only three live albums throughout their 37 year career, they have treated
their fans to a fourth, from their three night stay at Buenos
Aires in 2009.
With a set list 19 tracks strong, including Rock 'n' Roll Train, Back in Black and Highway To
Hell, the Argentinian crowd were clearly treated to an unforgettable night. A thriving mass of fans can be heard
screaming and wailing the intro to opener Rock 'n' Roll Train. Lead guitarist Angus
Young provides a bellowing lead guitar riff as front man Brian Johnson screeches "One
hot angel, one cool devil."
As the electric
performance powers on, the thunderous guitars begin to engulf Johnson and his vocals
start to feel sadly strained, which begs the question, When should an ageing
rock star surrender to his armchair and Horlicks? However, Johnson continues to
bawl through tracks like Big Jack and TNT alongside immense guitar solos and
Phil Rudd's resounding drum beats. But as Johnson shrieks "Lock up your
daughters", it all feels a little amiss.
Evidently the crowd
don't feel this way, roaring "Angus" during the intro intervals as
the band build up the momentum for 70s classic Whole Lotta' Rosie. Picking up the pace for
the encore, Highway To Hell, the ageing rock group put on a heroic show for their
adorning fans.
